The Battle of Worringen in 1288 was the warlike finale in the Limburg succession dispute that had already lasted six years. The main opponents in the conflict were Siegfried of Westerburg, Archbishop of Cologne, and Duke John I of Brabant. The outcome of the battle changed the balance of power in the entire northwest of Central Europe.
