British paratroopers at the time of the 2nd World War are depicted in 1:72 scale
The Parachute Regiment was formed from the Commandos, which were founded by the British following Winston Churchill's call to "set Europe ablaze". Britain's first airborne assault was carried out on February 10, 1941. Men from the 11th Special Air Service parachuted over Italy and blew up an aqueduct in the Operation Colossus coup d'état; the soldiers deployed were killed or later shot. After the airborne battle for Crete, it was clear that Britain needed far more paratroopers for similar operations. No. 2 Commando was ordered to specialize in airborne assaults and became the cornerstone of the Parachute Regiment, which was formed on 1 August 1942.
