Depicted is Spanish light infantry in 1:72 scale at the time of “El Cid” during the reconquest of Spain by Christian Spaniards, the time of the so-called Reconquista.
Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar (1045-1099), known as El Cid (“the Lord”), was a Castilian knight and mercenary leader from the Reconquista period who became a Spanish national hero in modern times. The Reconquista is usually considered to have begun with the Battle of Covadonga in 722 and ended with the capture of Granada by the Catholic Monarchs on January 2, 1492.
